This document explains how to create a local user account on a Windows 2000 workstation. Local user accounts are useful for networking when a user on another computer (Win 98/2000/XP) wants to use resources on a networked Windows 2000 workstation.
To allow Windows 98 users to access the Windows 2000 machine the username and password on the Windows 2000 computer should be the same to those on the Windows 98 computer.
You will need to have sufficient rights on the Windows 2000 workstation to perform these tasks.
1. Right click on My Computer and select Manage.

2. Expand Local Users and Groups and select Users

3. Select Add User from the Action menu.

4. Enter new user's details.
Enter a user name for the new user (no spaces) and a password (if required). Typically only the Password Never Expires box should be ticked. Click Next.

5. Finish.
After clicking Create the inputs on the box will clear to allow more users to be created (if desired). Click Close.
