How to Scan a JPEG using Paint Shop Pro 7

When scanning images many people scan to applications like Word which produces massive files and poor image quality.  There are also considerations when emailing these files as the recipient may not have the correct version of Word.

This tutorial shows how to scan an image using Paint Shop Pro 7 and save it as a high quality and compact JPEG file.

1. Open Paint Shop Pro

Start > Programs > Jasc Software > Paint Shop Pro 7

2. Open your scanners scanning interface.

3. Scan your image normally, when finished you should be returned to Paint Shop Pro with a new image (your scan).  300 full colour is usually quite sufficient.

4. Select File > Save As

5. Save your image.

a) Select the JPEG file type from the drop down box highlighted below (when the box is highlighted you can press J to select JPEG quickly).

b) Enter a filename

c) Click "Save"

Now email your file off, just be sure to remember where you put it.

Note that your twain device will need to set to your scanner in Paint Shop Pro.  If it is not then pull down the "File" menu and select import > Twain > Select Source.
